Saudi Central Bank (SAMA)

Ayman M. Al-Sayari was appointed Governor of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) by a Royal Order on 2 February 2023. Prior to this, he served as Vice Governor of the Saudi Central Bank, a role to which he was appointed by Royal Order on 17 October 2019, and as Deputy Governor for Investment between 2013 and 2019. He joined SAMA in 1999 and was seconded to the World Bank Group between 2003 and 2006, where he worked in the Global Financial Markets Department of the International Finance Corporation. Before joining SAMA, Mr Al-Sayari began his career at the Saudi Industrial Development Fund in 1995.

In his current role, Mr Al-Sayari chairs a number of committees such as the Executive Committee, the Monetary Policy Committee, the Investment Committee, and the Financial Stability Committee at SAMA.

During his career at the Saudi Central Bank, he was responsible for Setting the National Debt Strategy for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Mr Al-Sayari holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), and MBA in Finance from George Washington University. He is a CFA Charterholder and has completed the Chase Manhattan Credit Analyst Program as well as the General Management Program at Harvard Business School, in addition to several specialized programs conducted by multinational banks and international investment firms.
