Marouane El Abassi is a PhD in Economics from the University of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne. A Senior Economist with the World Bank as from January 2008, he coordinated the Country Programme for Libya. In 2012, he was appointed Office Manager of the World Bank in Libya. He was also Senior Adviser at the Arab Institute of Business Managers (IACE), Expert for the Tunisian Institute of Strategic Studies (ITES) and Economic Adviser at the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism and handicrafts charged with conducting the export development project financed by the World Bank. Being an Associate Professor of Economics, he was appointed as full professor at the University of Carthage in 2007. Marouane El Abassi who has, several times, received an honorary mention for excellence in teaching and research, has published many of his articles in renowned economic magazines and participated in publication of several works ; when teaching several MBA programmes, he was a guest lecturer at ICHEC Brussels, at Tsukuba University and at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of New York.
